Flatirons Parents,
There has been a mountain lion a couple blocks from here this afternoon. We now hear it is by Grant and Euclid, has been tranquilized and will be removed shortly. We have been informed by the district and Animal Control that it is safe to dismiss the students normally. Feel free to come get your children if that makes you more comfortable.
Kim
CHECK IT OUT!
At least this time (not yet, anyway) they didn't pose the tranqed animal for pictures with the neighbors.

Last year, while living in Boulder Canyon and reading the book "Beast in the Garden" (about lion proliferation in the front range) my parents came to visit. I told Dad I didn't let Leah roam the woods by herself because of lion threat. Dad (a registered professional forester from NorCal) laughed and offered million dollar life insurance policies for 25 cents/year. Later he went for a walk in the woods and saw a very large pile of carnivore scat. He came home right away and withdrew his insurance offer.
"The Beast in the Garden" predicted exactly this sort of increase in lion sightings and lion/human interaction.
